\u201cBreaking News\u2014The Last Dance for Freedom?\u201d\u2014a one-act, performative piece by playwright, actress, and performance artist Kristina Marija Kulini\u010d that attempts to reflect on the spirit of our times through the biblical archetype of Salome.<\/p>\n

Salome, still a teenager, having captivated her stepfather with her dance, asks him\u2014at her mother\u2019s urging\u2014to bring her the head of John the Baptist on a silver platter. This story has sparked the imagination of artists for many years; the most famous and enduring interpretation of the story is Oscar Wilde\u2019s play *Salome*, in which the girl becomes a symbol of impossible\/rejected love, passion, and a certain shadow side of womanhood. In \u201cHot News,\u201d Kulini\u010d seeks a different perspective and invites us to explore what and who today\u2019s Salome might be. Delving into themes of loneliness and a crisis of truth, Kulini\u010d invites us to encounter a Salome tormented by her (lack of) perception of reality, desperately seeking connection, and striving to break free.\u00a0<\/p>\n

About the author:<\/strong>
Kristina Marija Kulini\u010d is a playwright, actress, and director of the younger generation whose plays have been staged in Lithuania (directed by Gildas Aleksa, Art\u016bras Areima, and Ieva Jackevi\u010di\u016bt\u0117) and at the Latvian National Theater (directed by Art\u016bras Areima). She wrote the play and directed the production *Good Weather, If You Don\u2019t Think Too Much* (Vilnius Old Theater).<\/p>\n
