A contemporary circus performance based on the first uncensored edition of the Brothers Grimm's fairy tales
Based on three little-known fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm from the first, uncensored edition of their book—published long before it was intended for children—“Grimmasos” seeks to blend circus, dance, and the art of storytelling into an intimate and captivating performance.
Violent, chaotic, bleak. The stories depict a world in turmoil. People and creatures lose their lives, regain them, seek revenge, and sometimes a goat disrupts family life. Can the circus be a meeting place for understanding the inexplicable? Can audiences and artists create together?
This performance is created by three artists and three audience members, while the rest watch as they read, dance, and perform acrobatic stunts. All of this is based on fairy tales, which, on the one hand, have nothing to do with real life, but on the other hand, convey something deeply human and recognizable beyond the words themselves.
